Halfway Through the Year: Are Your Beliefs Holding You Back or Driving You Forward?

June isn’t just the start of summer… It’s the mid-year mirror. Many businesses do a halfway point analysis to make sure the company is on track to achieve its 2025 goals. However, most of us don't consider checking in with ourselves on how WE are doing at this halfway point. What about you? June can also be a checkpoint for each of us. For so many of us, life feels more pressurized than peaceful these days. We are living in a time when the emotional weight of the world hangs in the air like humidity, invisible but still heavy.


Social division, Cultural unrest, Economic anxiety, Political polarization, War, Loss, Grief. Even opening our phones can feel like a pull between outrage and despair.


And under all of that? We're each carrying our private struggles — old wounds, limiting beliefs, emotional fatigue.


  • Current Mental Health Statistics (2025 – WHO)

    • The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a 26% increase in anxiety and a 28% rise in depression within just one year post COVID.

    • 301 million people are currently living with anxiety disorders worldwide.

    • Of those, 58 million are children and adolescents, showing a rising crisis in youth mental health.

    • Over 280 million people globally are affected by depression.

    • 23 million young people are included in that number, underscoring the need for earlier interventions.

    • These numbers reflect more than a trend — they reveal a global emotional emergency, calling for more compassionate, accessible, and personalized mental health support.


      This explains why, more than ever, people are operating in a constant state of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. If you’ve been feeling numb, stuck, unmotivated, or “behind,” you’re not broken, and you are not alone.

We are absorbing all the negativity that is everywhere, and that just adds to our own heaviness; old, unconscious beliefs that sabotage and roadblock. This is what feeling frozen is like. You are not lazy or unmotivated. Most of us are just feeling overwhelmed by our nervous system trying to protect us. We were not constructed to live a life of constant stress and overwhelm.

The good news? We don’t have to stay there.


Let’s Talk About the Freeze Response

In trauma-informed wellness, we often speak of the four primary survival states: Fight. Flight. Freeze. Fawn.

Freeze mode is especially common right now, because our systems aren’t just responding to one stressor. They’re responding to a world that feels unsafe, unpredictable, and emotionally draining.

Freeze might show up as:

  • Procrastinating, zoning out, or binge-scrolling

  • Feeling “numb” or emotionally shut down

  • Knowing what you want to do, but uninspired or unable to act

  • Self-sabotage even when opportunities arise


Most people don’t realize this is a nervous system pattern, not a personality flaw. But when unconscious negative beliefs are added to the mix, freeze becomes even more draining.

“I’ll probably fail anyway." ”I should have figured this out by now.” Other people seem to rise above, but not me.”

These beliefs are quiet, but they drive everything. Sometimes, they are built into what we believe, so that we don't even recognize that this is what is going on underneath our consciousness.


What If June Became Your Turning Point?

Instead of looking at the first half of the year through the lens of guilt or disappointment, what if you used this moment to reset with grace, non-judgment and through a new lens.


Ask yourself:

  • What has really been pulling me backward this year?

  • Why does the weight of what is going on around me stop me from believing in myself? OR ,is the belief within me merging with the weight of the world, casting a darker version of my story?

  • What do I want to believe instead?

  • Who would I become if I could finally let go of old unconscious negative beliefs?


You don’t need to push yourself harder. You need to believe something better.


What’s Possible When You Believe Better

If this message stirred something in you, know that I’ve lived it too.

There was a time when I couldn’t understand why I felt so stuck. I was doing all the things I thought I should, but something deeper was holding me back. Through years of inner work, I finally uncovered the beliefs I didn’t even know were running my life. When I let go of what wasn’t true, I began to thrive in ways I never imagined. And now, at this halfway point in the year, you can use this reflective exercise to allow you to have that chance too.

The second half of 2025 can be lighter, clearer, and more aligned. It begins with one choice: To stop believing the lies… and start believing in yourself.


So what to do about it? Here are a few suggestions:


The Mirror Check-In

Stand in front of a mirror. Look yourself in the eyes and say: “I’m not behind. I’m becoming. ”Notice how it feels to say that. Do you believe it? If not, gently ask: What belief is standing in the way?


Belief Audit

Take out your journal and complete this sentence: “I still believe __________, and it’s keeping me from __________.”Then ask yourself: Where did I first learn this? Is it true? Do I want to carry this belief into the next half of the year?


Future You Letter

Write a short letter from your December 2025 self. What did you let go of? What did you believe instead? What did you reclaim? Let your future self remind you that everything can change, and it starts now.
